“Helping with Pain” Program
With more than 30 years-experience working with Top Athletes, stressed high energy executives as well as those with scoliosis, acute and/or severe injury, and those with mild to severe neurologic and orthopedic, issues I know about the physical, emotional, and social challenges people face.
My own journey
with pain, as an 11-year old kid, thru my twenties, helped to shape my desire and commitment to help others find a way out of pain. Unstable kneecaps, Chipped bones, torn cartilage, torn meniscus was the diagnosis.
Most likely caused from falling on the ice every winter ice-skating since I was 4 years old.
With a knee surgery at sixteen, a major infection developed.
Then a month-long hospitalization with another surgery to repair the site of infection.
A year learning to walk and bend my knee again.
On my last visit to the surgeon’s office, after a three hour wait past my appointment time, my doctor suggested this rehab for my knee. “Put the straps of your heavy purse at your ankle and lift your leg like this”.
Needless to say, that was not very helpful.
After ten years, with a little luck, and a lot of learning I found my way out of pain. I began to realize that other people were not so lucky. Many get “stuck” with being a patient. They never get discharged.
Movement as medicine, a determined attitude for problem solving, and deep focus on the interconnection of body systems that’s what I learned.
Our medical system is really good at “Acute Care”, not so good with “Chronic” conditions.
Insurance does not pay for education about how to get out and stay out of dysfunction & pain. For me to have the space, the equipment I have, and the ongoing education that requires me to keep up with new and ever-changing knowledge about how the body actually works, is a challenge.
Here is the point of all this. I want to be able to help as many people as possible. I know the power of what a little knowledge, along with some common sense can do to help people get out of pain.
That’s what I do.
That’s what I am good at.
Below I have listed some of the typical conditions that people come in to get help with. Also, a list of challenges that many of them come into see me with.
